Through its well-established brands and 60 subsidiaries, the company has been able to accumulate sales of $27.9 billion.
Richemont — $12.8 Billion
Richemont is a Switzerland-based luxury goods holding company that houses various brands including none other than Cartier. Founded in 1988 by South African businessman, Johann Rupert, this company produces and sells jewelry, watches, leather goods, and many other products that we all wish we could afford. Considering its vast variety of products and expensive brands, it is no wonder that this company has been able to gain sales of $12.8 billion.
Kering — $12.1 Billion
When you are an international luxury group that owns the most popular brand — Gucci — you are bound to be on this list. The company also has other subsidiaries that have greatly contributed to its sales of $12.1 billion. A 56-year-old French company that has clearly established itself throughout the globe, Kering has improved with every passing year, increasing its loyal customer base and inviting in new ones.
Luxottica Group — $10.3 Billion
The Luxottica Group is a Milan-based company. This Italian organization is the world’s largest company in the eyewear industry considering its sales of $10.3 billion. The Luxottica Group is able to accumulate such a high amount of sales by being the parent company of brands like Prada, Burberry, and Ray-Ban. The list does not end there since this company focuses not only on sunglasses but also on spectacle and prescription frames.
Chanel Limited — $9.6 Billion
With sales amounting to $9.6 billion, this UK subsidiary of Chanel S.A. is a force to be reckoned with. This French privately held company specializes in haute couture, luxury goods, and fashion accessories. With a worldwide presence and products that leave a lot of females craving for more, this brand was founded by Coco Chanel and is established in around 310 locations. Among its signature products are the “little black dress”, the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, and the Chanel Suit which we’ve all heard at some point in our lives.
L’Oreal Luxe — $9.5 Billion
The L’Oreal Group is known for many brands, which is probably why it has been able to land in this list. With $9.5 billion sales through brands like Kiehl’s and Lancome, this French company is not only one of the oldest (109 years in the industry!) but also one of the largest cosmetics companies in the world. It sells products that focus on many different aspects of daily life which is what makes it such a successful brand.
Swatch Group — $7.8 Billion
A Swiss manufacturer that has product lines dedicated to watches and jewelry, the Swatch Group was founded by Nicholas Hayek and is the umbrella brand for labels like Swatch, Longines, and Tissot. Its unique luxury goods are what has allowed it to earn sales amounting to $7.8 billion. Among the brands that it owns, Longines is ranked the 8th powerful brand under this group.
Estee Lauder Companies — $3.74 Billion
One of the most well-known brands of this US business company that is available worldwide is Micheal Kors. It is based in Midtown Manhattan, New York City but serves customers from all over the world, catering to their choices in the best way possible. Estee Lauder was founded in 1946, and since then, it has made a name for itself, contributing to its present position of one of the biggest cosmetics companies out there.
